Turkish (Türkiye) Ambassador pays courtesy visit to former president Leonel Fernández at GFDD

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. – Leonel Fernández, President of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), received a courtesy visit at the institution’s headquarters from Her Excellency Emriye Bağdagül Ormancı, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Dominican Republic.

During the meeting, both parties engaged in a cordial and productive dialogue, addressing various topics of mutual interest, with special emphasis on strengthening the bonds of friendship, cooperation, and understanding between the Dominican Republic and the Republic of Türkiye.

As part of the conversation, opportunities for collaboration in the academic, cultural, and institutional spheres were explored, highlighting the importance of promoting greater exchanges between the two countries, as well as initiatives focused on dialogue, education, research, and sustainable development.

Dr. Fernández welcomed this diplomatic engagement and reiterated the commitment of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) to continue fostering spaces for international cooperation and the exchange of ideas in strategic areas for development.

For her part, Ambassador Ormancı expressed her interest in further strengthening bilateral ties and promoting new joint initiatives that contribute to closer cultural and academic relations between Türkiye and the Dominican Republic.

Also participating in the meeting were Ms. Cansu Onur, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Türkiye in the Dominican Republic, and Ms. Guacayarima Sosa Machado, Assistant to the President of GFDD and Director of the institution’s Center for Future Studies.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of cordiality and mutual respect, reaffirming the shared interest in continuing to strengthen relations between the two nations.
