José Zaiter Analyzes the Impact of Oil on the Global Economy on the Program “Somos Latinos”

by GFDD Florida

Miami, Florida – José Zaiter, Executive Director of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), participated in the program “Somos Latinos,” broadcast through digital platforms and international media outlets, where he addressed one of the most defining issues in today’s global landscape: the impact of oil on the world economy and its relationship with international geopolitical and financial dynamics.

During his intervention, Zaiter explained that oil continues to be the most influential commodity worldwide, with a direct and cross-cutting effect on the economies of the United States, the Western Hemisphere, and other regions around the globe. He noted that fluctuations in crude oil prices impact not only the energy sector, but also key factors such as inflation, production costs, transportation, and international trade.

In this context, he highlighted how geopolitical tensions, particularly in strategic energy transit points, have contributed to rising oil prices, placing greater pressure on international markets and increasing global economic uncertainty.

He also analyzed how international policy decisions, as well as blockades and conflicts in key regions, affect global energy flows. He indicated that these dynamics not only alter the supply and demand of crude oil, but also directly impact the economic stability of multiple countries, particularly those with high energy dependence.

In the financial sphere, Zaiter addressed the role of the U.S. dollar as the predominant currency in international trade, especially in energy transactions, reinforcing its influence within the global economic system. Likewise, he referenced initiatives promoted by emerging blocs such as BRICS, aimed at diversifying international exchange mechanisms and reducing dependence on the dollar, which could contribute to a future reconfiguration of the global financial balance.

The Executive Director also underscored the close interrelationship between geopolitics, energy, and finance, highlighting the need to analyze these factors in an integrated manner to better understand the challenges of today’s international environment.

José Zaiter’s participation in this program strengthens the projection of GFDD Florida as an active center for analysis, reflection, and knowledge generation on issues that shape global dynamics, contributing to enriching public debate with informed and relevant perspectives.
