GFDD-Florida announces an extensive cultural and academic agenda for the fall

GFDD-Florida, an institution affiliated with the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), presented its schedule of events and projects for the coming months during a gathering held at its headquarters with members of the press and special guests.

José Záiter, Executive Director of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development in Florida (GFDD-Florida), highlighted that this agenda seeks to strengthen cultural, academic, and collaborative ties between the Dominican Republic and the State of Florida.

Among the announced activities are:

• The systematic distribution of Issue 107 of Global Magazine throughout the State of Florida.

• The screening of the Dominican film “Like Father, Like Son” (“De tal Palo, Tal Estilla”), directed by Frank Perozo, on Thursday, September 17, at the Tower Theater on Calle Ocho in Miami, as part of the ninth anniversary of the GFDD-Florida Dominican Film Showcase.

• The celebration of the first Dominican Legacy Gala on Saturday, September 19, at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, where three individuals of Dominican heritage will be recognized for their contributions to the promotion of Dominican culture and identity.

• A conference scheduled for November on “The Dominican Phenomenon in Major League Baseball.”

• GFDD-Florida’s participation in the Miami Book Fair, from November 15 to 22, sponsored by Miami Dade College.

• The presentation of the report “Dominican Republic/Florida Strategic Alliance,” developed in collaboration with Florida International University (FIU), highlighting the importance of cooperation between the Dominican Republic and Florida.

These initiatives reaffirm the commitment of GFDD-Florida and GFDD to promoting culture, intellectual thought, Dominican identity, and the exchange of knowledge in international settings.
