Paris, April 28, 2025 – With an emotional opening seminar, the exhibition “60 Years Since the Dominican April Revolution of 1965” was opened to the public. It will be on display until June 2025 at the Andine Hall of La Maison de l’Amérique Latine in Paris.

The exhibition, curated by Nicole Méndez, Isabel Mendoza, and Ramón Aceña, pays tribute to one of the most emblematic events in the contemporary history of the Dominican Republic.

This exhibition was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of GFDD Spain, led by Ynés Vargas, and GFDD France, headed by Laura Faxas, along with various Dominican, French, and Spanish institutions, including:

  • The General Archive of the Nation (AGN, for its acronym in spanish)
  • The National Audiovisual Institute of France (INA, for its acronym in spanish)
  • The Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM, for its acronym in spanish)
  • The Dominican Resistance Memorial Museum (MMRD, for its acronym in spanish)

Additionally, the exhibition incorporates valuable contributions from the research of Professor Pedro Martínez Lillo and the book “A Spring for the World” by prominent Dominican intellectual Fidelio Despradel.

This event reaffirms the commitment of GFDD and its partners to the preservation and dissemination of Dominican historical memory on the international stage.

The public can visit the exhibition until June 2025 at La Maison de l’Amérique Latine, a prestigious Parisian cultural institution dedicated to promoting exchange between Latin America and Europe.

We also thank the valuable audiovisual contribution by @heydaxter, which enriches the visitors’ experience.
