The film “Freddy” arrives at the “Dominican Film Showcase” organized by the Global Foundation in Miami

In this 8th. edition of the film exhibition will recognize Dominican filmmakers Alfonso Rodríguez and Blademil Grullón.

The office of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD-Florida), sister entity of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (Funglode) in the United States, with the collaboration of the Santo Domingo Global Film Festival (FCGSD) announced the celebration of the eighth edition of the “Dominican Film Showcase Florida”.

This year, the event will feature the screening of the film “Freddy”, produced by Giancarlo Beras-Goico, which chronicles the life of the iconic Dominican television producer and philanthropist Freddy Beras-Goico.

The screening will take place at the historic “Tower Theater”, located on Miami’s iconic Calle Ocho, on Thursday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m., according to José J. Záiter, executive director of GFDD-Florida.

In this sense, Záiter reported that in this edition tribute will be paid to the Dominican filmmakers Alfonso Rodríguez and Blademil Grullón for their outstanding contributions to the development of Dominican cinematography. In previous years, figures such as Ellis Pérez, Yvette Marichal, Omar de la Cruz and Hans García have also been recognized for their work in this field.

“We are proud to promote our nation here in Florida, through an industry that generates so many direct benefits for the Dominican people,” said Záiter. The executive also added that the GFDD-Florida has been a pioneer institution in the promotion of Dominican cinema in this state, consolidating itself as a reference in cultural dissemination.

The organization of the event, where personalities and celebrities from the artistic, political and community world of the city of Miami and the Dominican Republic will meet, is in charge of Soulangel Santana, deputy executive director of the foundation. The day will begin with a red carpet attended by prominent film and cultural personalities.
