by GFDD Florida

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic– The Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and its Florida-based affiliate, The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD-Florida), express their deepest sorrow for the tragic loss of life and the countless individuals affected by the collapse of the roof at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo on April 8. This unfortunate event has plunged our nation into mourning and left an indelible mark on our society.

In solidarity with the families of the victims and in respect for the national mourning period, we have made the decision to postpone our 22nd Golf Tournament, which was scheduled to take place on April 14th at the Miami Shores Country Club. We believe that, in these moments of grief and reflection, it is essential to come together as a nation and offer our support to those who need it most.

The tournament, which aimed to raise funds for educational and development programs, will be rescheduled for a future date to be announced in due course. We thank all participants, sponsors, and collaborators for their understanding and look forward to their continued support on the new date.

We reiterate our heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this tragedy and join the Dominican people in a spirit of unity and solidarity during this difficult time.
